The Split Rock Lighthouse on Lake Superior's North Shore is one of Minnesota's most famous historic landmarks. The 10,000 sf Visitor's Center honors this history, and works in harmony with the original structure which dates to 1909. The signature feature is the skylit spine aligned to frame a view of the lighthouse. Progressive environmental features include extensive daylighting, proper building orientation and the use of local materials to enhance the visitor's experience.
